POSITION SUMMARY: Under general direction, assists in operation of the Detention Education Program. Prepares instruction material, conducts tests, provides instructional feedback to youth and documents student progress. Assists in tracking and filing of library material and is the liaison with the public library system. Grades papers and files educational records of youth. Assists in administering the annual survey of youth pertaining to educational programming.
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of Bachelors Degree in Education and be designated as a Highly Qualified Teacher in core subject matters in accordance to the Ohio Department of Education. Must possess and maintain a valid Teaching Certificate in the State of Ohio. Any combination of training and work experience that indicates possession of the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform essential and non-essential job functions. This position involves varied and non-varied tasks with application of numerous educational concepts, state regulations, standards and procedures. Requires a minimal discretionary decision-making but requires sound exercise of judgment and analytical skills.
DUTIES: Works from divisional and functional policies using a wide range of procedures and plans. Provides practical and applicable educational programming to youth. Reviews / grades work of youth and possess the ability to apply learning theory concepts to provide direction and feedback. Is responsible for moderate educational decision- making that has impact on educational opportunity for youth. Is required to submit a wide range of reports and other documents to internal and outside agencies. Works with confidential information. Error in work and decisions may not be readily detectable and could directly affect educational credit for youth.
