Teacher Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of Masters Degree in Education or be designated as a Highly Qualified Teacher in core subject matters in accordance to the Ohio Department of Education. Must possess and maintain a valid Teaching Certificate in the State of Ohio. Must have three (3) years of teaching experience. Any combination of training and work experience that indicates possession of the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform essential and non-essential job functions. This position involves varied and non-varied tasks with application of numerous educational concepts, state regulations, standards and procedures. Requires a moderate level of discretionary decision-making and sound exercise of judgment and analytical skills.
DUTIES: Assists in planning, directing and coordinating operation of a secure Juvenile Detention educational program. Ensures adherence to applicable laws and regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to education. Assesses, defines and directs organizational and educational staffing needs. Assists in development, implementation and enforcement of education policy and procedure. Interviews, assesses, makes recommendations for hiring of new educational personnel. Prepares and submits records and reports to required agencies. Works with other agencies to coordinate educational services for incarcerated youth. Assesses the educational needs of incarcerated youth and makes referral as needed. Provides assistance and direction to staff when dealing with difficult work situations. Conducts staff trainings for new employee. Completes employee performance evaluations. Testifies in court pertaining to youth educational records and activities while detained. Meets all job safety requirements and standards that pertain to essential functions. Coordinates and ensures compliance with all accreditation guidelines through ACA.
