FT Maintenance Tech I (Utility Worker)
Under immediate supervision, performs daily custodial and maintenance activities in and around various Miami County facilities. Responds to routine maintenance and service requests from employees and officials.
MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Completion of four (4) years of high school or equivalent supplemented by more than two (2) years of training/experience in building and grounds maintenance. Experience should include property care, mowing, trimming, custodial maintenance, minor repair work, and equipment operation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
JOB DUTIES
Performs routine building services including, but not limited to, general custodial cleaning, trash removal, restroom cleaning, carpet and tile floor maintenance, spill cleanup, and other custodial tasks.
Uses cleaning tools and solutions to clean restroom fixtures, toilets, and tile floors; scrubs grout; and maintains facility cleanliness. Performs preventative maintenance checks and routine basic repairs on electrical, plumbing, and building mechanical systems. Maintains records of services performed and notifies the supervisor of equipment malfunctions, system failures, or maintenance issues requiring advanced repair. Performs grounds maintenance including operating push mowers, riding mowers, tractors, and related equipment to mow grass, remove snow, rake leaves, pull weeds, and trim trees and bushes. Manually removes ice from sidewalks, spreads salt, and operates snow removal or grounds equipment. Uses gardening tools to maintain and improve the appearance of County grounds. The employee may need to occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holidays for special projects (i.e., snow removal). Performs routine building maintenance and repair tasks such as painting walls and ceilings, cleaning drains, replacing light bulbs, and completing minor repairs. Moves furniture, fixtures, equipment, and materials as needed. Operates a pickup truck to transport waste, recyclables, equipment, and parts. Accepts deliveries and assists with unloading materials.
Performs special building maintenance projects as assigned, including operating building maintenance equipment including but not limited to: small hand tools, ladders, hand carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, assembling partitions and furniture, painting, and completing other facility improvement tasks. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Performs assigned special building maintenance projects, including operating building maintenance equipment such as small hand tools, ladders, hand carts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks. Assembles partitions and furniture, paints surfaces, and completes other facility improvement tasks as needed.
Complies with all job safety requirements and applicable OSHA safety standards related to the essential functions of the position.
Demonstrates regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
